Save the Children.
This week we will be having lots of fun playing party games, dancing and singing Christmas songs, as well as performing our Nativity play. We can all come wearing our Christmas jumpers for Save the Children and we will all receive a special gift to take home this week to pop under our Christmas tree.
We are making little Christmas cards this week and listening to the heartwarming story of Little Robin Red Breast (about a little robin who gives his warm woolly vests to his friends in need). We will be holding a coat appeal, where you can bring in old coats so that we can donate them, just like little robin. We will also be making chocolate sweet treats to take home and creating our 9 branch candle for the Jewish festival of light.
This week we are getting ready for Christmas - putting all the trimmings in the home corner and putting up the tree, which we are able to decorate ourselves. On Friday it is St. Andrews day, and we will be taking part in Scottish dancing and making tartan tree decorations, using rollers to create patterns. We will be looking at patterns as we listen to the story 'My Mum and Dad Make Me Laugh'. We are also looking at our new 'Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas' story book (as we really enjoyed the pooping dinosaur stories last term!).
We are celebrating Children's Day this week and the children will be celebrating themselves and their friends - talking about their own qualities and what they like to do, as we add our voices to our 'talking box of crayons' wall display. As it is also 'National Listening Day' on Friday, the children will be given the opportunity to listen to all of their friends as they talk about their lives in our listening circle time game. Children may come dressed in pyjamas on Friday, as we raise money for children with disabilities (for Crackerjacks charity).
On Tuesday it is World Kindness Day and we will be learning all about kindness as we listen to our story of how to be a bucket filler and take part in with bucket filling activities. We will be learning about all of the kind things we can do for others and we will be taking part in kind fundraising activities for Children in Need - painting colourful spotty bears as well as making food donations for our kindness basket for the elderly.
We will be learning all about Bonfire Night and Divali. Both celebrations have colourful firework displays so we will be creating firework pictures and mixing our own paints to create new colours. We will be playing musical instruments and writing our own fireworks sounds poems as well as acting out and singing along to the story of Divali. On Friday, we will be creating red poppies for Rememberance Day.
